Haas F1 Goes Full Throttle On NFTs With OpenSea Partnership
In a new partnership deal with OpenSea.
With professional sports leagues and diverse organizations embracing the metaverse, crypto, and NFTs greatly, it is safe to say that Web3 has officially taken over the sports industry.
We have seen Deadfellaz start digitalizing NFL players as NFTs, Polygon joining SportsFive agency to build the future of sports, and the Skateboarding Hall of Fame dropping digital assets to support its skateparks.
Today, Formula One (F1) is carrying out its commitment to have a role in the Web3 revolution as the Haas F1 Team announced its new partnership with the notable NFT marketplace, Opensea.

Haas F1 Team, the only American-owned team competing in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship, has selected OpenSea to produce the team’s first official NFT collection.
Haas shared that it will be working closely with OpenSea to provide exclusive utilities and Web3 experiences that hope to bring its fans closer to the F1 team.
“We’ve waited to find the right partner in the NFT space and in OpenSea we’ve found exactly that,” stated Guenther Steiner, Team Principal of Haas F1 Team. “It’s going to be exciting for us to take our first steps into the NFT environment and engage with OpenSea’s passionate community. We have some fun ideas how we can do things differently. To be guided by OpenSea on our collections and fan engagement opportunities, we know we’ll be in good hands as they’re not only connected to all the key players but they’re an industry leader with innovation at the forefront of all they do.”
As many F1 teams have already utilized the power of NFTs to offer its supporters with new experiences, Haas will join the excitement with its upcoming line of NFTs.
“We’re looking forward to bringing innovative collections to life with the Haas F1 Team, building new experiences for their community of dedicated fans, and providing new ways for everyone to get even closer to the action,” said Shiva Rajaraman, VP of Product at OpenSea.
The collaboration will also include OpenSea’s logo and branding being placed on Haas’s VF-22 race cars.
As of May 2022, the Miami Grand Prix arena was decked out with Crypto.com’s logos and eight out of the ten F1 teams had an official sponsor from the crypto or blockchain space. Crypto-based companies like FTX, Velas, Binance, and Floki were all pictured on various F1 teams’ official race vehicles.
However, more recently F1 teams were faced with a difficult chapter in regard to placing crypto sponsors and their logos on F1 race cars. This past July, eight F1 teams were forced to remove all crypto advertisements from their vehicles in order to adhere to the rules and regulations of France for the 2022 French Grand Prix.
Looking at the greater organization, F1 has also raced into Web3 as the association filed for two Web3-related trademarks in August, followed by an additional eight new ones this past October.
The trademark application submitted on October 5 consisted of F1 using crypto, distributing NFTs, providing retail stores for virtual goods, blockchain transactions, as well as crypto mining and trading.
Formula One has filed 8 trademarks for “F1” covering:
? Cryptocurrency + NFTs
? NFT + Crypto marketplaces
? Retail stores for virtual goods
? Blockchain financial transactions
? Cryptocurrency trading + mining

Given the extensive coverage of this submission, we likely will continue to see F1 diving into the digital landscape with Web3 experiences and campaigns.
