VANDYTHEPINK Will Sip at Miami's Art Basel Alongside Johnnie Walker and 88rising
Ahead of this year’s Miami Art Basel, where holders will participate in a token-gated voting experience that will drive the next bottle design for Johnnie Walker.
Ahead of this year’s Miami Art Basel, Scotch whisky brand Johnnie Walker and 88rising, the Asian-centric music and media company, have joined spirits to create a limited-edition Johnnie Walker Blue Label bottle with streetwear artist, Junghoon Vandy Son, known by his alias of VANDYTHEPINK.
In celebration of the world-renowned moment for the arts, VANDYTHEPINK is partaking in his first Web3 venture as the limited bottles will be available exclusively through BlockBar’s direct-to-consumer NFT marketplace for luxury wine and spirits.
To cap this historic year, we’re partnering with @vandythepink and @BlockBar where securing one of our limited edition Blue Label bottles gets you exclusive VIP access to an art experience at the V event at @ArtBasel Miami.

On November 22, the VANDYTHEPINK x Johnnie Walker Blue Label release will drop as NFTs on BlockBar’s platform for about .3 ETH ($355 USD). Holders will receive an NFT, signifying authenticated ownership on the blockchain, with the option to “burn” the digital asset in exchange for the physical bottle.
Interestingly, VANDYTHEPINK created more than one physical bottle design, as holders will be given the opportunity to vote on the final bottle’s artwork during this year’s Art Basel.
The NFT collection’s holders will receive VIP access to attend Vayner3’s “V” event at SCOPE Miami Beach on December 1. Attendees will be able to meet VANDYTHEPINK, vote on the definitive design for the bottle, receive a signed commemorative art piece, and enjoy the immersive Johnnie Walker whisky-tasting experience.
VANDYTHEPINK told Hypemoon that he had been approached by many people in Web3 for possible collaborations, but wasn’t really interested.
“However, Johnnie Walker gave me the opportunity for my first breakthrough into Web3 with a unique experience where my fans and NFT collectors can also join in on inspiring the design,” he said.
Born in South Korea, VANDYTHEPINK started out as a “customizer,” creating a unique take on brand logos from worldwide pop culture. While moving to America, he quickly resonated with the bold brand graphics and large advertisements that motivated his work to enter the fashion industry with his own streetwear clothing line in 2017.
The name ‘VANDYTHEPINK,’ he told Hypemoon, means light and hope — hoping to spread happiness and playfulness through his designs.
As a result, he didn’t want his brand to be ran conventionally, “where there was no real interaction with the creator.”
“I’ve always included my fans in the design process and communicated with them. The people who support my work are the ones giving me the opportunity to create more and do cool things, which is why there is more of a reason for them to be a part of the process of my work,” VANDYTHEPINK added.
VANDYTHEPINK felt that this collaboration would a “beautiful synergy of the qualities in the craftsmanship of Johnnie Walker Blue Label and the community built around 88rising to conceptualize the artwork for this NFT and bottle release.”
“Customizing is very aligned with my branding and entering the Web3 world with something I normally do with my fans is very fitting. I also particularly wanted to get involved with Johnnie Walker because of my resonance with the brand, their continued effort to bring new communities into Web3 and their work to champion AAPI artists with their long-term partner 88rising,” he said.
While this collaboration will be VANDYTHEPINK’s first Web3 endeavor, this will mark Johnnie Walker’s fourth NFT release with BlockBar as the world’s number one Scotch brand.
“This whole experience is very new and different to me but stepping out of my comfort zone to create something cool with my fans and NFT holders makes me feel fulfilled,” he admitted.
“I’m excited about this one-of-a-kind experience to directly connect with my fans and NFT/spirits collectors to ideate around my artwork alongside some of the biggest communities of Web3 during one of the largest cultural moments for the arts. I think it is super exciting to see how we have advanced in the digital world and to even be able to be part of this and experience this. The possibilities in the digital world are endless and I’m excited to see where it’ll be in the next few years.”
