Spearheading Creative Expression Through Virtual Reality
Meta has actively been exploring the intersection of innovation, culture, and identity in the metaverse with exclusive groups of community thought leaders, while simultaneously co-creating unique experiences that individuals can navigate through the Oculus Quest device.
“I 100% believe the metaverse will become a space for artists because, as artists, we’re constantly having to think about the future and carrying the responsibility of telling the past, present, and future.” – COVL
The Metaverse is a future where everyone, regardless of age, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, race, religion or ability, can enjoy the full spectrum of the virtual experience. It is a shared dominion that empowers all people to express themselves through technology.
Meta has aimed to empower people from diverse backgrounds using their technology to leverage the power of virtual reality “to amplify intersectional voices across diverse communities to influence how we build towards an equitable metaverse.”
Meta House is a virtual reality experience that allows you to shape the future of art, technology and fashion. It’s an immersive space where artists can learn from each other, share their work and connect through both virtual and augmented reality experience. Meta will also co-host a day of creative inspiration, empowerment and community building for emerging and rising artists.
Virtual reality (VR) is the next frontier for creators to express themselves and create new worlds for people to experience. From music to art and design, VR is opening up new possibilities for creators across industries. Through VR, creators can truly engage with their audience and share their ideas with the world in a way that was never possible before.
Creators can explore new territories, tell stories they otherwise couldn’t tell, or create something entirely new — all while interacting with their audience as if they were right there in front of them. This level of interactivity has never been possible before in any media format (and likely will not again until we have true teleportation), giving us an unprecedented opportunity to connect with others through our artistry.
Virtual reality creates an experience that mimics physical presence in a virtual or artificial environment. Multiple senses such as sight, touch, hearing and smell are simulated in the virtual world to create the sense of immersion and realism.
Meta is also collaborating with Dutch artist duo and recent “Are We There Yet?” guests, YONK who will host an immersive VR workshop on Thursday 12/1 at 12PM EST, to show students and guests how VR can be used for creative expression.
