Men’s Grooming Brand, FACULTY, Reveals $BTC Varnish for Nails as ‘Ode to Innovation’

While also announcing it now accepts cryptocurrency payments for all of its currently available products and merchandise.

Launched in 2019, FACULTY is a brand steeped in non-conformism, self exploration, and creativity that aims to challenge and recraft traditional masculinity norms in what it calls the “third wave of masculinity.”

Its two male founders, Umar ElBably and Fenton Jagdeo, have championed today’s evolving landscape surrounding male self-expression, through a portfolio of products for anyone and everyone, including unconventional men’s products such as nail polish, nail lacquer, nail stickers, foundation, and merch.

Cosmetics giant Estée Lauder led a $3 million USD seed round in June 2021, alongside RareBreed Ventures, Maple VC, Debut Capital, Creative Connectors, AUFI, 10K Ventures, actress Maisie Williams, and recording artist Iann Dior.

This past February, FACULTY received an investment from USC Trojan quarterback Caleb Williams, who is now a part-owner of the gender-neutral grooming brand.

Williams, 20, is known to paint his nails and has previously shared that his passion for nail art comes from his mother, who is a nail technician. “You know, some people love it, some people hate it,” Williams told Bleacher Report

“Either way, I don’t really care. I never have been one to care much about what people have to say or think about me. I just kind of do as I feel and if people like it great, if they don’t, whatever. I feel like everyone should express themselves however they choose. If me painting my nails while playing football helps some people feel more confident in expressing themselves, then great.”

This week, FACULTY announced its newest product – $BTC, a triple-use clear varnish for nails that removes the hassle of having to buy three different products, combining a base coat, top coast, and a lacquer into one.

With a “versatile punch,” the new $BTC varnish can be used as a base coat for color, a top coat for stickers, nail art and color, or on its own as a day-to-day protective layer.

With its announcement, the brand also revealed that it now accepts cryptocurrency as payment on all of the brand’s current products.

Over the next six years, the men’s personal care market alone is expected to skyrocket to $75 billion USD, according to Grand View Research.

FACULTY’s characterizes its new $BTC campaign as “an ode to innovation,” striving to break the mold and decentralize beauty for all through its line of creative cosmetics by taking on crypto’s rebellious nature.

“Blurring the lines of reality through a cyber lens, [we] take the viewer on a subversive trip to an alternate universe, exploring the versatility of $BTC while paying tribute to its brand milestone of accepting crypto with a certain playfulness that has always been apart of the FACULTY DNA,” the announcement reads.
