Goblintown Brings Its Mischief to Miami With “Fart Basel”

As part of a two-day experience, Goblin art trucks, the “SothePEE’s and the PISStie’s,” will be driving around and hanging out one-of-one works to those who can catch them.

Goblintown, the NFT project that captured the attention of the Web3 world in May — with its bizarre Twitter spaces where hosts joined to make goblin noises for hours — is now making its way to Miami for “Fart Basel.”

In what it is calling a reverse heist, Goblintown will have two stolen “Fart Trucks” roaming Miami, and handing out physical one-of-one hand-painted artworks to anyone who can catch them.

From Friday, December 2, to Saturday, December 3, stolen Fart Trucks, the SothePEE’s, and the PISStie’s will be hitting the streets of Miami. Locations for some of the truck stops have been shared on Twitter, with more information likely to follow.

Goblintown defines the event as an immersive, multi-day experience that celebrates counterculture and is a satirical take on the prestige often associated with Art Basel.

The event is open to Goblintown holders, several partner projects, as well as the general public. The truck’s final stop is said to be a “secret hideout” where the goblins will rage all night long. Complete information for ticketing has been published on the project’s tokenproof page.

“The goblins stormed NFT.NYC by feeding the masses with burgers and throwing a BANGER that even the streets of New York couldn’t handle. JUST YOU WAIT, MIAMI! If you thought a banana duct-taped to a wall was stupid, WE CAN GET STUPIDER,” shared the Goblins.

“Goblintown knows how to shake up the establishment with flare and grotesque taste, while bringing immersive experiences that bend the mind and overload the senses – so it’s a no-brainer for us at Proxy to wanna join forces and partake in this (f)art Basel heist. All we can say is keep your eye out for the hooded Jedi-looking weirdo lurking around – say the secret word and see what happens” shared Proxy’s Denis Mars.

Cesar Kuriyama, CEO of Truth Labs, the creative platform behind Goblintown, shared that “Art Basel ranks as one of the premier art shows of the Americas offering VIPs a chance to engage in the international art world as private collectors, museum directors, and curators, art advisors, and internationally known artists,” explaining that “NFTs have given us an opportunity to democratize art.”

He added that “no longer do the rich get to gatekeep what is considered valuable in the art world. Goblintown is here to lift the art of the people, the artists yet to be known, to lift what is possible with NFTs, and maybe bring the traditional art world down a peg or two.”

Goblintown took the NFT space by storm in May, as collectors were starting to feel the blues of the bear market. The proudly irreverent project first launched as a free mint, with its tokens being claimed in just a matter of days and its secondary market floor prices rapidly rising to 2, 3, and 4 Ether in the days to follow.

While the floor price of the collection may be down, the emotions and ethos it represents are still extremely relevant in today’s market conditions — which can be seen in its growing community base.
