Prada Launches 'Timecapsule NFT' Collection and Its Own Web3 Community

Monthly drops of physical merchandise will be accompanied by gifted NFTs.

Following its successful NFT with Adidas Originals in January, Prada announced further advancement into the Web3 space with the launch of its new Timecapsule NFT collection. The release consists of both physical products and accompanying digital assets, as well as the creation of its very own Web3 community “Prada Crypted.”

The first drop of the Timecapsule NFT collection will release on June 2, with additional releases taking place on the first Thursday of every month.

Community initiative “Prada Crypted,” will be hosted on the Discord app and be open to anyone who wishes to join. Prada defines the community space as a place to exchange ideas and inspire one another while connecting the universe of fashion with the worlds of art, architecture, cinema, music, Web3, and more.

On the monthly release dates, users will have 24 hours to place their orders or while supply lasts. Every release will feature exclusive products released in limited run quantities. Customers who purchase the physical pieces will then be gifted an accompanying NFT in a second phase, these NFTs are the first solo digital assets produced by Prada.

The June 2 release will feature a one-off unique shirt designed in collaboration with artist Cassius Hirst, son of Damien Hirst. The design of the garment features Hirst’s signature mask and brain scan designs, symbolizing unity and togetherness. The shirt will be available in both black and white and is made from iconic technical fabrics that are found in the Linea Rossa high-performance line.

Each physical item will be serialized as will its corresponding NFT. The first drop will be facilitated by the Aura Blockchain Consortium and utilize the Ethereum blockchain. Each drop will normally be limited to a run of 50 digital and physical items, with the first being extended to 100 in celebration of the launch.

This first solo release from Prada is yet another step into the world of Web3 from brands that would otherwise only sell physical products — creating a more interactive, advanced, and immersive experience for consumers and collectors alike.
