TAG Heuer Launches NFT Integration For Its Smartwatch

The renowned watchmaker has also started accepting cryptocurrency as payment.

As first reported by Vogue, luxury watchmaker TAG Heuer revealed NFT display integration on its smartwatch. The LVMH-owned luxury brand also recently announced that it accepts cryptocurrency payments on its US website.

To show support for the new integration, the brand’s CEO Frederic Arnault took to Instagram to share a photo of himself wearing the watch featuring his personal Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT on the face.

The new function is being rolled out to users of the TAG Heuer Calibre E4 smartwatch and is available as a free update in compatible application stores. The integration works through users securely connecting to Web3 wallets like MetaMask or Ledger Live and is compatible with any Ethereum-based NFT.

TAG is not the only watchmaker to dive into the world of Web3, recently Hublot launched a limited edition hardware wallet with crypto-security solution brand Ledger. Adoption is rapidly increasing, particularly in the world of luxury, with brands like Prada, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Balmain, Balenciaga, and more all becoming more involved in digital assets.

Recently Balmain’s CMO said that NFTs are a “powerful tool” that all brands should be utilizing.

Elsewhere in NFTs, OpenSea transfers its platform to a new protocol, estimating a savings of $460 million dollars in fees for its users.
