Binance To Launch NFT Ticketing for UEFA League To Reduce Counterfeiting

After chaos broke out in May during Paris’s UEFA Champions League final game, which resulted in tear-gassing, injuries, and robberies for the playing team’s supporters.

Binance has announced the launch of its new NFT ticketing service in collaboration with Società Sportiva Lazio (S. S. Lazio), Italian football club of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).

This past May, thousands of fake admission tickets were blamed for the chaos that occurred during Paris’s UEFA Champions League final game.

The French government blamed counterfeit tickets for the authority’s failure to properly handle the large crowds appearing at the stadium. That alleged failure resulted in tear-gassing, injuries, and robberies for the playing team’s supporters.

Since the launch of Binance Fan Tokens in October 2021, Binance is seeking to expand its platform to reduce the possibility of similar events taking place through NFTs to avoid and prevent forged voucher entry.

Beginning with S. S. Lazio, Binance will soon implement NFT ticketing for all the club’s home games during the 2022-2023 season. In addition to entry, these digital tickets will also provide discounts for the stadium’s merchandise, exclusive giveaways, and one-of-a-kind branded experiences.

“NFT ticketing, which we are introducing with S.S. Lazio introduces a brand new layer of utility features to non-fungible tokens. Lazio will revolutionize the ticketing market and presents another significant real-life use case for Web3 technology,” said Zoe Wei, Binance Fan Token Lead.

The football club’s decision to begin supplying tickets through NFTs on the blockchain aims to create a more dependable ticketing system not just for the team, but for the UEFA, eliminating legacy issues surrounding the resale of fake tickets at expensive prices.

Looking beyond UEFA, the National Football League (NFL) issued this year’s Super Bowl LVI tickets as limited-edition NFTs to better streamline the process for sports match entry, while providing accessibility to the team’s fanbase.

S.S. Lazio tickets can be purchased inside Lazio’s official stores, on social media, and on Binance’s Fan Token platform.
