Bitpay Allows Customers To Pay for Food Delivery With Dogecoin

Holders can now pay for Uber Eats and DoorDash with DOGE.

Cryptocurrency payments service provider BitPay has integrated with Uber Eats and DoorDash to allow for crypto payments on food delivery orders. Currently, neither company accepts any direct crypto payments through its platform, though customers can now spend a variety of crypto tokens such as Dogecoin (DOGE) as they would cash exclusively with BitPay’s card.

The BitPay card turns crypto tokens into spendable dollars almost instantly and can be used at any place that accepts Mastercard. DOGE holders can now utilize the card’s zero conversion fee feature to make purchases using their DOGE balance. Cardholders can even use Google Pay and Apple Pay for in-person transactions.

Originally launched from a meme of a Shiba Inu dog, DOGE has a dedicated community of holders like Tesla CEO Elon Musk. With BitPay’s support, holders are applauding the new opportunities for this coin.

Real-world opportunities to use the digital coin are growing, with one recent survey suggesting that nearly 1 in 3 businesses will be accepting Dogecoin in 2022. Other well-known companies that already support DOGE payments include AMC Theaters, Twitch, NBA’s The Dallas Mavericks, and airBaltic.

BitPay also supports the biggest crypto tokens such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, XRP, and several stablecoins. BitPay’s website states, “BitPay supports all popular wallets like MetaMask, Trezor, Coinbase, Kraken, and many more,” allowing customers to remain using the wallet of their choice to transfer funds to the card.

In other news, crypto lender Nexo will buy rival platform Vauld.
