Disney Taps Polygon for Its Accelerator Program

Aimed at advancing innovative growth, the network will receive guidance and executive mentorship.

Ethereum scaling solution Polygon announced on Twitter that it has been selected to participate in the 2022 Disney Accelerator program. The platform will receive world-class guidance and executive mentorship aimed at accelerating innovative growth.

Alongside Polygon, five other Web3-focused companies have been chosen to participate in this year’s program. Disney Accelerator serves as a business development program that is designed to accelerate the growth of innovative companies from around the world.

In the formal announcement, Disney shared that this year’s program is focused on building the future of immersive experiences and specializes in technologies like augmented reality (AR), non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and artificial intelligence (AI).

Included in the lineup of companies alongside Polygon are FlickPlay, a Web3 social app that integrates both NFTs and AR, Inworld, a platform that focuses on AI experiences, Lockerverse, a platform focused on immersive storytelling, Obsess, a 3D store solution for metaverse brands, and Red6, an AR brand that holds patents for a headset designed for high-performance environments.

“For nearly a century, Disney has been at the forefront of leveraging technology to build the entertainment experiences of the future,” said General Manager of the Disney Accelerator program Bonnie Rosen, adding that “the Disney Accelerator is thrilled to be part of that legacy, and with our newest class of companies, we look forward to furthering our commitment to innovation and continuing to bring magical experiences to Disney audiences and guests for the next 100 years.”

The program will conclude with a Demo Day in the fall at the Walt Disney Studios lot in Burbank, Calif. Disney says with this new class of companies it aims to develop new technologies and storytelling canvasses for greater connected experiences across both physical and digital worlds.
