Hong Kong Property Tycoon Adrian Cheng Revealed To Be Azuki Whale

The very same that recently swept up over 100 of the project’s NFTs.

According to a recent announcement from Azuki, the mysterious whale behind the pseudonym “LastKnight” has been revealed to be Hong Kong property Tycoon Adrian Cheng.

The news comes after weeks of speculation surrounding who might be behind the account, with a large interest from the community as LastKnight swept up over 100 Azuki NFTs despite recent controversy.

“Adrian’s passion for art and technology is inspiring. We share a common vision that Web3 is a cultural shift, and Azuki will play an integral part in this movement. I’m excited to work together with Adrian and his team to show the world what a web3 brand is capable of,” said the project’s founder Zagabond.

A big believer in Web3, Cheng also holds major investments in both RTFKT and Animoca Brands. Although, Azuki clearly holds a special place in the collector’s heart. He has helped to build out the brand from behind the scenes and looks to continue his support by bridging both the physical and digital worlds through immersive experiences.

Cheng is set to provide these experiences through collaboration with other artists in order to provide and democratize phygital collectibles, as well as experiences. To achieve this goal, he will lead a team of creatives, blockchain, and NFT experts.

This news comes off the heels of Azuki’s successful phygital art-focused conference which was held in June, during NFT NYC. The event titled “The Alley” was created to be an interactive and immersive Web3 experience for all who attended.

In connection with the event, Azuki has recently updated its website to reflect an interactive digital version of “The Alley,” with what many have speculated to be clues of what is to come.

Azuki ended its announcement sharing that with LastKnight, the brand aims to bring phygital experiences to Hong Kong and then the rest of Asia, in order to “demystify Web3 and the metaverse for all.”
