RECUR Carries Hello Kitty and Friends Around the Globe via NFTs
Holders will embark on a worldwide voyage to participate in challenges, collect stamps, and form memories that last forever on the blockchain.
The celebrated global franchise of Hello Kitty officially takes flight as an NFT collection Hello Kitty and Friends travel the world in a new digital collectible experience. In this upcoming worldwide tour, Hello Kitty’s biggest fans will have the chance to collect some of Sanrio’s most iconic characters, powered by RECUR’s blockchain-agnostic NFT platform.
Expanding off Hello Kitty’s most notable slogan, “you can never have too many friends,” her and six of Sanrio’s beloved figures, Keroppi, Melody, Cinnamoroll, Kuromi, and Pompompurin are placed on the blockchain to join collectors in a stamp-collecting voyage around the globe.
During today’s public mint, 10,000 NFTs will be marketed as Suitcases, which unlock to reveal a disclosed character — starting at the price of $100 (USD). RECUR Pass holders are eligible for two Suitcases, while general buyers may purchase one Suitcase each.
As the Hello Kitty brand saturated the global market through her character’s devotion to travel and experiencing new cultures, the issued NFTs reflect that through six different city excursions to Paris, London, Barcelona, Berlin, Sydney, and New York City. RECUR pass holders will have additional access to Miami and Tokyo.
With each trip lasting five days in length, the characters will return from their travels to reward holders with 1 Stamp with different rarities – representing the unique identity of each visited city. The goal is to fly your NFT to visit as many cities as possible to earn Stamps that represent IRL memories — which can later be traded for Snapshots.
Beginning October, holders can trade in 3 Stamps for a Snapshot of each city which will be used as customization to the PFPs, further increasing collector’s value and secondary marketplace prices.
“We’re thrilled to create a platform for all Hello Kitty fans, old and new, to take flight and experience the metaverse through Hello Kitty and Friends World,” said Zach Bruch, RECUR Founder and CEO. “Our goal is to provide a community where fans can interact and explore the metaverse with brands and IPs they love. We can’t wait to bring that to life for Sanrio fans across the globe.”
Hello Kitty is one of the world’s most collected brands with over 50,000 products being sold across over 70 various countries. Extending off Sanrio’s copyright, Hello Kitty’s enthusiasts are invited to join the NFT community for the first time with public ownership and true collecting of the brand’s IP.
“It’s incredible to be able to bring the friendship and community of the world’s favorite character and her friends to a new fan base with RECUR,” said Silvia Figini, Chief Operating Officer of Sanrio. “We’re lucky to have some of the best fans in the world, and it’s a privilege to craft a new space for them to experience their fandom like never before.”
RECUR has continued to partner with some of the world’s largest franchises like Nickelodeon, Carebears, Star Trek, and more. Utilizing the Polygon blockchain, RECUR offers an eco-friendly layer-2 minting process which reduces the overall carbon footprint of the platform.
This past April, RECUR announced it would accept deposits and withdrawals from multiple blockchains and supported wallets for its NFT projects — providing holders with interoperable experiences.
