Solana Now Has Its Own Phone, Sneakers, Physical Store, and a Beer
On the can are NFTs from the blockchain, including DeGods, Okay Bears, y00ts and more.
Utilizing the intellectual property (IP) of NFTs for branding and product offerings has become quite common — what’s not common is an entire cryptocurrency network utilizing its name to launch consumer products. That is what Solana is doing though, both directly and indirectly.
In late June, the blockchain platform announced the launch of a crypto-compatible mobile phone, Saga, which utilizes Android hardware. The phone was created to offer a more user-friendly experience for Web3 dapps, which otherwise have for the most part only been accessible through a desktop.
It’s the toolkit you need to build beautiful, seamless web3 mobile experiences, coming first on Saga, a flagship device from @Solanamobile.

Towards the end of July, the network unveiled its first physical store, where customers can shop for merchandise, NFT collectibles, and other goods. It also doubles as a venue for launch pad events and Web3 educational experiences.
Most recently, the space was used to partner with Blanksoles to offer a limited run of 300 physical sneakers.

Those able to purchase the sneaker were immediately airdropped an NFT of its digital render, something that is said to act as a sort of membership pass for future experiences.
Another application of Solana IP, this time by the community, is the “Solana Summer Lemonade Shandy.”

With only 333 six packs of beer available, the offering quickly sold out. Originally priced at 1.35 SOL (roughly $40 USD), the beers and their correlated NFTs are now listed at a floor price of 2.3 SOL (roughly $69 USD). Holders of the NFT will soon be able to redeem it for the physical pack of beers in eligible locations.
