Drake, Saweetie, and Fendi Flaunt Their Ledger As the Ultimate Status Symbol of 2023
Drake, Gunna, Fendi, Saweetie and More Flaunt Ledger as the Flex of the Future. Symbolizing 2023’s Status Symbol and Strong Presence of Blockchain Security in Pop Culture.
If you’ve been in the crypto, NFT, or broader Web3 space for more than a few weeks, chances are you’ve heard about Ledger — maybe you even own a few.
While by design the hardware it produces is intended to protect digital assets, the same devices have also become fashion statement pieces, with a wide variety of celebrities repping them throughout 2022.
One of the most iconic moments was when Gunna touted his custom-made, diamond-encrusted Ledger Nano X — which was affixed to a white gold necklace with over 20 carats worth of diamonds on it.
Other diamond-encrusted Nano X devices included those seen on Drake’s Instagram story, laid out on a marble countertop with text reading “waiting on you Bitcoin.”
A third iced-out Nano X appeared in Saweetie’s music video Closer, featuring a custom pink Ledger logo and housed in the collaborative case by Fendi — with Ledger Live open in her other hand, Saweetie flexed an apparent $107 million USD in Bitcoin holdings.
In the Metro Boomin and Future’s video for Superhero, the Ledger Nano X can be seen several times, with one shot also open to Ledger live and Metro flexing nearly $17 million USD in Ether holdings and some NFTs. Rapper YG also briefly flashed his Ledger in the music video for Scared Money.
Unique and limited edition Ledger Nano Xs weren’t just for celebrities in 2022 though, Ledger also released a large number of publicly available and token-gated releases for NFT communities. Including collaborations with brands like Deadfellaz, VeeFriends, Adam Bomb Squad, The Sandbox, Hublot, and many more.
While Nano X was without a doubt the most popular product from Ledger in 2022, it did announce a new device that is set to take user self-expression to a new level in 2023.
Teaming up with Tony Fadell “father of the iPod,” Ledger announced its latest product, the Ledger Stax. The new device brings with it not only the highest available security for users’ digital assets but also represents the most functional device the brand has produced yet, thanks to the screen that makes up the face of Stax — while no bigger than a credit card.
Elsewhere, Tiffany & Co NFTiffs pendants have arrived and holders are flexing their CryptoPunks “off-chain.”
