Solana Based Gaming Platform Fractal Joins Polygon

Kicking things off with the reveal of 30 different launch partners and a variety of tournaments.

Fractal, the Web3 gaming platform founded by Justin Kan, a co-founder behind the popular streaming service Twitch, has just announced that his platform is expanding to the Polygon ecosystem.

Through the partnership, Fractal is bringing its tournament products, game launcher, NFT marketplace, wallet functions, and more to a larger audience.

Formerly solely Solana-based, Fractal has begun to branch out into other chains, offering a layer of interoperability that is in line with the ethos of Web3. As of now, the platform offers support for the Ethereum chain and now its layer 2 chain Polygon.

“We’re very excited about this,” Kan shared in an interview with GamesBeat, adding that “we want to be where all the games are — the most anticipated game developers wherever they will be.”

At the time of writing, functionality with Polygon has already gone live and is available with three different games, though the platforms say more are on the way soon.

One of the platform’s biggest strengths that it’s bringing to the Polygon chain is its gamer-friendly wallet and account management system, which it hopes will help ease the transition for traditional gamers’ entry into the space — as Kan expresses they’re targeting triple-A blockchain games.

Already revealed are 30 various partners that Fractal intends to work with, including Aether Games, Champions Ascension, Phantom Galaxies, and more.

To get gamers excited and to celebrate the partnership, the two will launch a series of tournaments and activations held in various partner games, which will lead up to the Game Developers Conference set for late March.

The hope is to expand both the player base and get more eyes on the Web3 gaming community in general.

Besides the speed and security of Ethereum and Polygon, Kan shared that “people are also launching a lot of games on Polygon, and some of the biggest games are there. And so we decided we wanted to bring our products there and support them.” To date, more than 200 games have been launched on the layer-2 chain with no signs of slowing down.

Sharing his thoughts on the partnership, Polygon Co-Founder Sandeep Nailwal said that “Fractal has emerged as a crucial hub for the discovery of blockchain games,” adding ”by teaming up with Fractal and combining their impressive suite of developer tools with our own, we aim to make 2023 the year we bring Web3 gaming to the mass market.”
