Formula 1 Has a New Ticketing Experience That’s Powered by Polygon

Marking Platinum Group’s first venture into the digital collectibles space that debuts this weekend at Monaco F1 Grand Prix.

Ahead of this weekend’s marquee event in Monaco, Formula One (F1) announced today its new ticketing experience, powered by Polygon.

Platinum Group, the largest ticket operator for all F1 Grand Prix events across the world, announced its partnership with Elemint and blockchain advisory firm Bary to transform the current F1 ticketing experience into an entirely new ticketing platform.

The iconic Monaco F1 Grand Prix, which runs this weekend from May 26 to 28, will serve as the launch event for the new ticketing experience, which will be available throughout the duration of the competition – from practice through qualification, to the race itself.

Bertrand Labays, COO of Platinum Group told Hypemoon that this minting marks Platinum Group’s first venture into the NFT world.

“As a global ticketing solution provider, we are convinced NFT will play a significant role in the future of ticketing. It was thus crucial for us to get started on blockchain technology,” Labays said.

Labays also commended Bary’s efforts in Platinum Group’s ability to offer its VIP products to clients through a “completely secured NFT ticket that will turn into a unique memorabilia to remember.”

Elemint, which designs and develops state-of-the-art Web3 engagement and loyalty solutions for sports, media, and entertainment companies, created a secure platform that allows users to receive a unique digital ticket in the form of an NFT, which will be issued on the Polygon blockchain.

“Web3 technologies make it possible to design  ticketing solutions that are more secure and more adapted to the specificity of each event. The experience becomes more personalized and fun for fans of all types of sports competitions. Applications developed using Elemint’s Web3 technologies will completely transform the  experience of fans and their relationship with sporting events in the years to come,” said Jacques-Henri Eyraud, CEO of Elemint.

Moving forward, each F1 Grand Prix ticket will come in the form of a digital collectible and will also afford the holder a unique digital souvenir after the event. Each ticket and memorabilia will also be personalized, with each having a key and showcasing various emblematic stages of the Monaco Grand Prix circuit, such as the Hairpin, Sainte-Dévote or the Casino.

“Working alongside Elemint, Bary, and Platinium Group will  reimagine the Formula 1 ticketing experience. The ticketing platform combines the robust security of Ethereum with the forge-proof uniqueness of NFTs to enhance ticket authenticity and prevent counterfeiting while providing fans with lasting digital mementos. It’s hugely encouraging to see major events acknowledge the benefits that NFT ticketing and blockchain tech can offer,” said Urvit Goel, Vice President, Head of Global Business Development at Polygon Labs.

These tickets will eventually be used as a digital key to also unlock additional benefits, including post-race hospitality and ticket discounts.
